NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Due to the popularity of a park and ride shuttle offered a few months ago, the NSB Waterfront Loop once again will offer free rides to a popular Flagler Avenue event. The shuttle will tote LOOP-goers Aug. 16 to the 5th annual Flagler Avenue Shrimp and Seafood Festival.

The shuttle will run in 15-minute increments from 5-10 p.m. that Thursday of the event and will shuttle riders between Flagler Avenue and the parking lot at 160 North Causeway (adjacent to the North Causeway boat ramp). Signs along the north and south causeways will direct drivers to the lot.

When the LOOP offered the free shuttle for the June 21 Seaside Fiesta, nearly 500 people took advantage of the free ride, said, Liz Yancey, New Smyrna Beach events coordinator. The service is an effort to accommodate more participants to the festival by providing a convenient parking alternative.
